Bettina Grande is a psychological psychotherapist (psychoanalysis and psychodynamic therapy), working in Heidelberg since 2006. In the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, her practice increasingly specialised in post-COVID sydrome and ME/CFS, and she served on the advisory board of the model project “Adaptive, cross-sectoral healthcare for Long/Post-COVID syndrome in Baden-Württemberg” (SEVEN-PCS). As part of the Charité-led research project "PAIS Care Berlin", a regional network for the care of people with post-acute infectious syndromes (PAIS) (including ME/CFS and post-COVID syndrome) she works on the care and psychotherapeutic support of people affected by ME/CFS and, at the beginning of 2025, founded the Psychotherapy Network ME/CFS at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. In numerous seminars, podcasts, interviews, and lectures (e.g., at the International ME/CFS Conference 2023), she explains that psychotherapy can support patients in coping with their illness and in implementing pacing as a form of energy management. She outlined the principles of this treatment approach in her 2023 position paper “The Role of Psychotherapy in the Care of Patients with ME/CFS.”
