Prof Carsten Finke is a neurologist and Professor of Cognitive Neurology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany since 2020. He leads a research group focused on cognitive disorders and their neural foundations, particularly through the use of advanced neuroimaging techniques and detailed neuropsychological assessment. In the field of ME/CFS, Prof Finke primarily investigates changes in the brain that are associated with typical symptoms such as cognitive impairment. A current research project focuses on identifying imaging biomarkers that could help objectively detect disease-specific alterations. These markers may, in the future, contribute both to improving diagnosis and to the development of individualised treatment approaches. His research makes an important contribution to a better understanding of the neurobiological mechanisms underlying ME/CFS and supports the long-term advancement of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
