Symptom Burden, Functional Disability and Health-Related Quality of Life in Severe Post-COVID-19 Condition: An Outpatient Cohort Study

Dr Elsa Biteus is a specialist in general medicine and a doctoral student at Karolinska Institutet (KI), Department of Medicine, Huddinge, Sweden. She is based at Gnesta Primary Care Centre and conducts research on Post-COVID-19 Condition (PCC) within the KLIMP study, in the research group led by associate professor Soo Aleman, focusing on viral infections and their long-term immunological consequences. The KLIMP study aims to characterise and understand the underlying biological mechanisms of long-term symptoms in PCC, with particular emphasis on identifying distinct clinical phenotypes and associated biomarkers that may support improved diagnosis, rehabilitation, and future therapeutic strategies.
