Effects of Serum Autoantibodies on Astrocyte and Microglial Activation and Neuronal Function in ME/CFS
Dr Marlen Alisch conducts research on neuroinflammatory processes in human cell cultures at the Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC) of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Max Delbrück Center (MDC). In her work, she uses cell cultures from neurons, astrocytes, and microglia obtained from sera of ME/CFS and post-COVID syndrome patients. Fluorescence microscopy then allows for the visualisation and identification of cell functions and potential tissue damage – triggered by factors in the serum of these patients.
