Project description

The aim of the TENEAM care concept is to ensure that patients with neurological diseases have access to a graded and coordinated neurological specialist care in line with their needs in structurally disadvantaged regions. This should lead to an improvement in the care of acute and chronic neurological patients in these regions.

TENEAM examines telemedical care for neurological patients in comparison to standard care. Patients with neurological diseases requiring clarification or treatment and health insurance with one of the participating health insurance companies are randomised 1:1 and included in the prospective, multicenter study. The inclusion and presentations, including the examination of patients, take place directly via telemedicine in the general practitioners' practices in the project region, thereby relieving the burden on general practitioners. Telemedical providers are specialists from the university hospitals in Cottbus, Greifswald and the Charité - University Medicine Berlin as well as ten neurological specialist practices in the region.

If recommended, the concept can be continued unchanged and adapted to the ongoing shortage of specialist practicioners in rural and disadvantaged regions of the country. Implementation within the framework of selective contractual solutions or a collective agreement is possible. The programme costs will then ideally be offset in the future through lower costs as a result of not having to fill neurological practices with new personnel.
