Any clinical investigation carried out on human subjects intended to study or demonstrate the clinical or pharmacological effects of medicinal products or to detect adverse reactions or to study absorption, distribution, metabolism or excretion with the aim of ascertaining the safety or efficacy of medicinal products. Interventional studies also include medical device studies or studies in which surgical, physical or psychotherapeutic categorisation of different types of study procedures are investigated.
