Description

The group's research is concerned with deciphering the role of epigenetics in the development, fixation and deterioration of chronic lung diseases. A particular focus lies on the influences collectively described as the 'exposome', such as air pollutants, infectious pathogens, allergens but also the intestinal microbiome. In addition to the mechanistic elucidation of epigenetic regulation, the group's goal as a university liaison group is to develop new biomarkers and innovative therapeutic approaches (theranostics) and to test them translationally in cohorts.
