Project description

The project led by PD Dr. Blome and PD Dr. Summer at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) is intended to educate medical students early in the socialisation and reduce stigmatisation through two workshops on destigmatising people with ME/CFS. The central elements are the transfer of knowledge and personal encounters as well as an exchange with those affected and/or relatives. The first workshop will be evaluated and optimised based on a differentiated assessment of stigmatising attitudes and stereotypes before and after participation after the first implementation.

The workshop is developed by the study team together with four people affected by ME/CFS or relatives and four medical students, based on already established formats of destigmatisation workshops. Doctors with experience in treating ME/CFS are involved as cooperation partners.

The long-term goal is to expand the workshops to other professional groups in the health sector and to also hold them at other universities.
