Founded in 2007 the Gastrointestinal Immunology research group is dedicated to investigate this exciting immune organ. Specifically, the group aims to identify mechanisms and risk factors in food allergy and other IgE mediated intestinal diseases. Their current major research interests are: A) Evaluation of Sphingosine-1-phosphate as a biomarker of food allergy B) The role of food protein nitration in food allergy C) Evaluation of the relationship between the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and immunedeficiencies D) The impact of dietary compounds on the immune system with special regards to food allergy E) Specific glycan pattern on biological compounds F) The crosstalk between the immune system, the mucosal epithelium and the gut microbiota.
